Words of Welcome:
An opportunity for Tritons to be inspired, to spark curiosity, and to bring us together. Let's celebrate the strength and diversity of our Triton community.

TWOW 2024 marks the launch of Words of Welcome at UC San Diego. As part of this new initiative, we’ve chosen a book for the entire Triton community to explore – whether through reading, listening, or watching — around a shared theme. Our goal is to spark campus-wide discussions on important social issues and inspire meaningful action. Continue reading to discover this year’s selection and find out how you can participate in the conversation.

The Common Read

Our inaugural Common Read selection is American Like Me: Reflections on Life Between Cultures, edited by America Ferrera. This inspiring collection of essays offers insights from individuals who have navigated life with a blend of cultures and identities.

The stories within reflect some of the diverse backgrounds and experiences that make up our campus community, reminding us that while our paths may be different, we all share the journey of finding belonging.
